With a strong commitment to development, Sumitomo are active in adding innovative new products to our range.

Recent developments have focussed on 3 key areas:

Low Connecting Loss:

  • High precision MT ferrules to offer a random mating insertion
    loss </= 0.35dB.
  • Chamfered guide pin holes for increased durability of connectors & high mating cycle applications.
  • Available for MPO and LIGHTRAY MPX™

Flame Retardant:

Flammability is an increasingly common concern and we offer fully flame retardant interconnect solutions supported by the inclusion of:

  • Flame retardant 900mm tight buffered fibre.
  • The first flame retardant ribbon fibre available in the market.
  • High performance, Riser-rated ribbon cord.

High Density:
Sumitomo propose increased fibre density offering patch cords and pigtails with a reduced bend radius:

  • Sumitomo’s Pure Access (PA) 15mm bend radius fibres with full compatibility to standard SM for both connection and fusion splicing allow significant space reductions in fibre management and a 10-15mm saving in the backplane.
  • Sumitomo’s Pure Access Ultra (PAU) 7.5mm bend radius fibres with full compatibility for connection to standard SM fibres offers 90% space saving in fibre management and over 20mm saving in the backplane.

New developments in MT ferrule technology offer:

  • MPO and LIGHTRAY MPX™ with 24 fibre MT ferrule. This connector with 2 rows of 12 fibres offers a high density solution.
